I have created with fabric since I was eight. I still hope to spend everyday in my shop, surrounded by fabric, paint
and all the tools needed to create. My artistic endeavors range from experimenting in my studio, to teaching art and
writing. A passion for nature has provided me with boundless ideas and mysteries to uncover. I travel throughout the US
and Japan, teaching an average of 15 venues annually. Locally, I belong to two wonderful groups, Houston Area Fiber
Artists and Mixed Media Artists. As a member of SAQA, I am able to connect with artists from around the world and
appreciate the wide range of exceptional work in textiles today.
Current Endeavors: I am developing a series of work using soy wax, which draws from the beautiful history of batik.
Since soy tends to spread, for design detail, I am combining soy techniques with silk-screening. In 2012 the combined
techniques of soy, silk-screening and pleating were filmed for a Quilting Arts television series. Episodes will be shown
on PBS stations in 2013.
